The term 'Obamacare' is now a household word. Our current President, Barak Obama, founded Obamacare/The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)/The Affordable Care Act (ACA)
and he signed this federal statute into law on March 23, 2010. This
statute was created with the intent of making drastic, yet beneficial
changes to ensure that all United States citizens have healthcare and to
make sure that it is affordable. Such drastic changes in our
healthcare system hasn't been seen since the advent of Medicaid and
Medicare in 1965.
Many of us have had or still have
health insurance of some kind. Some people are satisfied with the
healthcare plans they are used to, some are highly dissatisfied, while
others don't seem to care or even know about what their healthcare plans
offer. President Barak Obama's mother died early as a result of
complications from an illness that she could have recovered from had she
been able to afford to pay for the medical treatment she needed. His
mother was simply unable to afford the high cost of the health insurance
she needed and wasn't able to gain coverage due to the health insurance
policy against her pre-existing medical condition. Since the loss of
his mother was so tragic, especially at such an early age, President
Obama wants to make sure that no other family has to lose someone just
because they don't have enough money for medical expenses. He doesn't
want any individual or family to have to sell their home, a car,
liquidate their life insurance policies, forfeit a child's education, or
become homeless in order to foot the hospital bills.
Obamacare's
aim is to provide everyone with, not only healthcare that is available
and affordable but, quality healthcare plans. In other words, it
doesn't make sense to have a plan that covers treatment for heart
attacks, asthma, and broken limbs but not cancer or diabetes. If you're
covered for the former ailments but you are eventually diagnosed as
having Type II diabetes or skin cancer, you're out of luck, especially
if you make too much money to qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. Every
child and adult should have insurance coverage for all of their medical,
dental, and vision needs and be able to get any specialized or
alternative medical treatment without losing their shirt.
Obamacare
is a stictly regulated healtcare system that allows individuals and
families to choose free healthcare plans for those who qualify and
affordable plans from both public and private insurance companies.
